Robert Maron Obituary
Passed away on February 24, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born in Chewelah, WA on November 27, 1926 to John and Clara Maron. He attended Jenkins High School and West Valley High School before joining the US Merchant Marines on December 7, 1945. He served as Able Seamen aboard Cape Cleare, Desoto and Tonto and was honorably discharged in October of 1946. Bob worked at Armour's Meat Packing Plant, completed telegraphers' school and began a career with Great Northern Railroad. He held many jobs with them from telegrapher, station master and extra board substitute. For 42 years he was employed by Great Northern Railroad, Northern Pacific, Burlington Northern and Pacific Santa Fe. Bob was a member of the Washington State Grange and the National Rifle Association. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, traveling and the Seattle Mariners. Robert is survived by his sister Bettie Maron; lifelong friends Shirley Schmidt and Luella Kangas; many friends at Kimberly's Cottage; several nieces, nephews and cousins.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity or Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest, 1234 E. Front Ave., Spokane, WA 99202. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paschal;s Catholic Church, 2523 N. Park on Thursday, March 3rd at 10:30 AM. Graveside services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Dear Ms. Maron
I worked with Bob on the Railroad for many years. I will miss the arguments (discussions) we used to have. I am sorry I was not at the service on Thursday. I was there on Friday only to realize I was a day late. I will always remember Bob.
