Ruby McNutt Obituary

McNUTT, Ruby Rae (Strenge)
6/30/1925 - 5/9/2011

Surrounded by friends and family, Ruby Rae McNutt of Spokane Valley passed peacefully on May 9, 2011. The daughter of Franklin S. Grosvenor and Ruby Belle (Palmer) Grosvenor, she was born in Spokane on June 30, 1925 and graduated from North Central High School in 1943. Following WWII, she married her high school sweetheart Robert Louis Strenge and the couple raised three sons, Robert Jr., Kurt, and Stephen. Ruby lived in the Spokane Valley area throughout most of her life and worked for many years in the Spokane County Treasurer's Office. Widowed in 1994, she later married William C. McNutt, a former elementary school and North Central classmate, and a loving man with whom she shared most of the final decade of her life. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Martha (Grosvenor) Smick, both husbands, and son, Kurt, who died in 2000. She is survived by her brother, Walter Grosvenor and his family and the families of her sons Robert, of Pullman, and Stephen, of Oregon City, OR, which include six grandsons, and three great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service for our beloved mother Ruby will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, at Riverside Memorial Park, 211 North Government Way, Spokane, Washington. A gathering in celebration of her life will follow at 1 p.m. at Courtland Place, 1309 N. Evergreen Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to either the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Spokane.
