Vernon V. "Ole"
(Age 87)

Passed away on March 28, 2011, at the Spokane Veterans Home in Spokane, WA. He was born in Spokane on July 24, 1923. Vernon attended school in the Libby Jr. High area. He worked several different jobs before going into the Army at the start of World War II. While in the service for his country, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge in France. After the war, he was introduced to Marjorie Tandy on a blind date. They were married a short time later and remained married for 57 years. Vernon went to work for the City of Spokane where he remained for 28 years before retiring. He and Marjorie went south for the winters after they both had retired. They both loved to dance and travelled together throughout their married life.
Vernon is survived by his daughter, Connie Brumleve, and son-in-law, Mark Brumleve, of Spokane; his son, Bill Martin and his partner-in-life, Darlene Wezeman, both of Vancouver, WA; his sister, Faye Smith, of Spokane; granddaughters: Meghan Duncan and husband, Rob, of Vancouver, WA, Alyson Morris and husband, Jesse, of Vancouver, WA, Stephanie Smith of Spokane, Amanda Kotlan and husband, Dave, of Spokane, Megan Brumleve of Spokane; great-grandchildren: Cella, Felix, Israel, Lulu and Bugs Duncan, all of Vancouver, WA, Eden Stevens and Shea Kotlan of Spokane.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 North Monroe, Spokane, with the Pastor Happy Watkins officiating.
