KOHLSTADT, Rita (Edison)

Rita died peacefully in her home with family by her side on May 15, 2011 after a courageous ten month battle with cancer. Rita was born August 5, 1941 and raised in Newburg, MO. She is survived by her sons, Wade Jackson (Missy), their sons Ian and Kyle, of Everett, WA; Ross Jackson (Maria), their daughters, Diana and Ashley, son Daniel and great-granddaughter RoseAngel, of San Diego, CA; her daughter Renee Katruska; her brother Jerry Edison (Linda) of MO; sister Wilda Van Elting of MO; several nieces and nephews, very special friends and her faithful dog, Fred.

Rita enjoyed many holiday traditions, traveling to Everett at Easter and Thanksgiving, San Diego every Christmas, and Newburg Days every June to spend time with her friends and family. She was an avid local sports enthusiast, attending the Shock and Indians games with long time friends on a regular basis. Whether it was her favorite NASCAR drivers or the Seahawks, you knew where Rita would be, right in front of the television cheering them on.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hazel; husband Gary; brother, Donald; sisters Norma Jean, Fern, and Audrey; and grandson Ross.

Thank you Mom for all the precious memories! Per Rita's request no services will be held. The family will host a celebration of life at her home on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The family would like to thank Care to Stay Home and Hospice of Spokane who made her last weeks very comfortable. In lieu of flowers, Rita and family request that charitable donations be made to Hospice of Spokane.
