Arthur Talley Obituary

TALLEY,
Arthur L.

Died peacefully with his wife, Mary, at his side on May 17, 2011. Art was born on March 8, 1919 in New Boston, TX. During World War II, he served in the U.S. army in the Pacific theater. After the war, he was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve until his retirement in 1962.
Dad met Mary on a blind date at Camp White, OR, in 1944. They married in Missoula, MT, Mom's hometown, on March 6, 1945. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Spokane, WA. Art began working in the millwork business, eventually buying Union Sash & Door Co. in 1952. He owned the business until his retirement in 1984.
Dad's favorite activity was hunting for whitetail deer, a hobby he pursued successfully for 50 years. He also enjoyed keeping up with business, investing in the stock market, and bowling.
Besides his wife, Art is survived by his daughter, Leslie; his son, Mike (Christy), their daughter Juliet (Greg) Ackerman and their children Sydney and Courtney; his son Ken (Mary Ellen) and their children, Matthew and Rebecca (Chad) Brunskill and their children Cayden and Taylor.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of Spokane and Alder House at Northpointe Retirement Community. They went far beyond the call of duty in caring for Art and his family during his final days.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Alzheimer's Association-"Northwest Chapter. Arrangements entrusted to:

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Grandpa Talley was an amazing man and will be dearly missed. I will remember his warm smile and inviting manner. He always made me feel like one of the family when I would visit his home with Juliet. My deepest condolences. With love, Melissa
