Brian BURNS Obituary

BURNS, Brian Edward Was born July 24, 1961 in Orlando, Florida to Patricia Ann and Charles Benjamin Burns Jr. His father was in the military, so he lived in many places, Spokane from 1973 - 1985, and most recently in Mountlake Terrace, WA. On July 25, 2014 Brian was granted a new birthday with the transplant of a heart and kidney at UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital. After a long battle and many complications after surgery, on December 20th through the grace of God, Brian Edward Burns was given the gift of eternal healing in heaven. Brian is remembered as the best son, brother, friend, uncle and father that all could ever imagine. Making time for everyone and brightening all corners of the world with his smile. Brian's caring began as a child, looking out for his big brother and little sister. Giving to others as a Scout, and becoming an Eagle Scout, and as a Mason at North Hill Lodge #210. Brian lived life to it's fullest. At Mead High (Class of 1979) his enthusiasm permeated the school, especially the Wrestling, Cross Country, Track, and Choir programs. Brian attended Eastern Washington University. Later in life whether it was with his bowling team, softball team, coaching his son's baseball teams, or as "permanent field trip parent" Brian inspired everyone to do their best and enjoy the moment. His ultimate strength in fighting the many battles of his illness inspired all of us to always see the best in everyone and in every situation, and to be braver than can be imagined, and eternally and in all circumstances express joy. Brian is survived by his parents Patricia and Charles B. Burns Jr. of Spokane; brother Chuck Burns, of Seattle; sister Barbara Cruz of Spokane; his children Benjamin Maxwell Burns and Bryce Edward Burns of Mountlake Terrace; his nephews Nicholas and Michael Cruz, and a multitude of friends that know how much he loves them. To help us to carry on his Legacy, please donate in his name to the Boy Scouts of America or the Shriner's Children Hospital. There will be a celebration of his life on January 14th in Spokane, WA at 3:00PM at Audubon Park United Methodist Church, 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd. There will also be a memorial service in Seattle on January 17th. More details on CaringBridge.org. Our family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude for the care Brian received at The University of Washington and University of California Los Angeles Transplant teams.
