Darrell DuChene Obituary

DuChene, Darrell A.
September 30, 1946 -"
February 26, 2011

Darrell DuChene left us to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Darrell was raised in Spokane. He graduated from Shadle Park H.S., attended Whitworth College, worked at Morning Star Boys Ranch 17 years and CCS Dist. IEL 19 years. We believe Darrell's most important role was that of being a foster parent. Darrell began his foster parenting in 1976 to the present. He had 114 kids through the years and loved every one of them. Darrell was the kindest, most loving, caring, compassionate, selfless person and a mentor to many, both in his parenting and work force. He became Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa to many of the kids he fostered. Darrell is survived by Mike Meadows, Matthew Miller (Katina), Randy Jeffus (Dawn), Randy Beals (Tammy), Donavan DuChene, James Walker, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Elizabeth DuChene. Vigil Service on Friday, March 4, 2011, 7:00 P.M. at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery. Reception at 2:00 P.M., doors open at 12:00 P.M., Spokane Community College, Lair Bldg. 6, 1810 N. Greene St. Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Morning Star Boys Ranch or Early Childhood Development.

I will always know Darrell as being so gentle and calm. Nothing seemed to faze him. I know Aunt Liz was always so proud of him as was my mom also. I'm so honored to have called Darrell my cousin. He has done so much for so many. God Bless.

Darrell DuChene, a wonderful, calm person that was my DAD. This man is one of a kind. The countless lives he has impacted and his giving of himself cannot be measured. Dad was one of the most unjudging people that took care of my life and gave me wonderful guidance. He and my family have sooo many wonderful memories. He was Grandpa, Dad, Caregiver, Comforter of all of us and many more. My dad and the dad of countless others will be remembered by me and my family forever and always. DAD,GRANDPA, WE LOVE YOU LIKE NO OTHER..............
