Dorothy Canino Obituary

CANINO,
Dorothy M.
(Age 77)

Passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Spokane, WA. Dorothy was born June 17, 1933 in Spokane to Lawrence and Marie (Munk) Knapp, one of 18 children. Dorothy was a great cook, and loved cooking big Italian dinners for her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard and keeping her flowers beautiful. She would always cut flowers from her yard and loved sharing them with her family and friends. She loved baking and sharing her baked goods with her neighbors and her family. She was a UW Husky fan. She took great joy in going to her children's homes and helping out if they needed help in their homes or yards. She is survived by her daughters Colleen M. Hagen (Lawrence) of Spokane and Tammy M. Rickard (Darrell) of Rathdrum, ID; a son, Jeffery N. Canino of Spokane; brothers Donald Knapp of Lewiston, ID, Gene Knapp, Amlen (Butch) Knapp, and Jack Knapp, all of Spokane; sisters Eloise Bryant of Florida, Pat Richardson, Marie Knapp, Linda Holcomb and Lorna Spangle, all of Spokane; grandchildren Crystal Barnufsky, Lindsey Hagen, Christopher Canino, Rhiannon Rickard, and Shawn Canino; and a great-grandchild Alyssa Barnufsky. She was preceded in death by her husband Carmen Canino in 2008; her parents; brothers Allen, Sonny, Robert, Virgil, John, and Carl Knapp; and sisters Kathleen Knapp and Shirley Rothwell. Viewing will be from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM followed by the vigil service at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, and the funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Friday, May 20, all at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. There will be a reception for friends and family following the funeral at the funeral home. Dorothy will be interred at Pines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 110 W. 5th Ave, Suite 256, Spokane, WA 99204.
