Edward Larsen Obituary

LARSEN, Edward Jack and June Helen

On April 4, 2011 Edward passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was born 14 Sep 1917 to John A. Larsen and Caroline Levison of Chicago Illinois. After high school, he enlisted in the USMC Marine Corps, 4th Regiment, Shanghai China. After serving he returned to Chicago to work and began volunteering to help with the Boy Scouts of America and their activities. In addition he achieved the station of a 32nd degree Mason and then went on to become a Shriner.
Edward met and married the love of his life, June Helen Gribben, November 1941. They had two children, Linnell and Edward, Jr. They felt Chicago was no place to raise children; so they packed up for Spokane, Washington. June secured a transfer with the Pacific Northwest Telephone and Edward secured a position with the Spokane Sheriff's Department.
In the 70s these empty nesters moved to Cottonwood, Arizona, built a home, traveled, and enjoyed the company of friends and neighbors at the local Wal-Mart. In 1996 June died of leukemia. In 2004 Edward took up residence at Bel-Aire Assisted Living, Orem, Utah (5-1/2 yrs.); and then, The Charleston Assisted Living in Cedar Hills Utah until his passing.

He may be out of sight; but, never out of mind. Our family extends our love and appreciation to the Charleston Staff and Envision Hospice for all you have done to make his journey peaceful. Edward's baptism will always be a highlight in our lives and we are thrilled that the Cedar Hills Stake made it possible. Thank you!

The most important role of his life was being a good father and husband. He always put his family first. He has four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and they are as follows: daughter Linnell June Larsen (Ronald George Kunavich); son Edward Jack Larsen, Jr. (Penny Morgan); grandchildren Donna Deane Dick (Jeff Connor), Denice Kristen Dick (Matthew Strong), Morgan Ann Larsen (Jeff Atwood), Erin Larsen(Herald Smilden); great-grandchildren Kailee Rees Connor, Kaitlin Jean Connor, Willis Connor, Tell Strong, Talon Strong, Ronin Strong, Shepard Strong, Ryan Strong, Jackson Atwood, Penelope Atwood, and Christian Smilden.
