Thank you Homer Joy for writing "Streets of Bakersfield," an homage to the forgotten working man of America. As one of ten kids from Heber, Arkansas, I'm guessing you came from working class roots, as I did, born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Thanks for your gift of music to the world. Best wishes to your surviving family members and friends. You certainly were well-loved, and will be well-remembered. Godspeed.

I have known Homer all my life. I will miss him. I am thankful for the many wonderful times we shared. He was my brother in the Lord, my brother in law and "Dad" to some of the dearest people in my life.

I had so much fun at the Camden dances, listening and dancing to your music. They were the highlight of the week. I think about it often. You were the best singer and your band was awesome. My sympathy to your family; I know you will be missed. Thank you for the memories.

Homer was a kind hearted, and loving man of God. We shared many hours of conversation about our Lord and savior, which I will always cherish. And, then of course there was the music! I really enjoyed singing with him, too. I would like to say "thank you so much" to Mr. Homer Joy for teaching me how to be a better person. I loved him, and I will miss him dearly.

I frequently look back on the dances at Camdenin the mid 60's and ever so fondly remember dancing to Homer and his band. My favorite song was, "Let's Go" and he allways played my request. R.I.P. Homer.
