(Age 84)

Died peacefully at home with family after a short bout with cancer December 28. Born to Henry and Anna Michaelsen of Odessa WA in 1927. Served in World War II and Korea. Married Fayetta Moulton in 1950. Graduated from WSU in 1954 and moved to Spokane where he taught history at Steven's Grade School. Graduated from Gonzaga Law School in 1958 and practiced law until 2007. Over the years Howard served in the Spokane Lilac Association, North Spokane Lyons, Shriners, Toastmasters, and was Santa for many years at nursing homes and hospitals. He was an avid dancer, enjoyed summers at Priest Lake, Idaho with his family, lived to serve others, always having a positive outlook on life, and knew no strangers. Survived by his wife of 61 years Fayetta Michaelsen; and four children, Barbara (Lynn) Strauss, David (Sue) Michaelsen, Steve Michaelsen, and Angelia (D'wight) Skaarup; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at Northview Bible Church, 13521 N. Mill Rd. Spokane, Sunday, January 15th, 2pm.

Mr Michaelsen was a "exceptional" nice guy !!! (as a teenager that was alot) he was there for me, as a "problem child" teen in 8th grade ... it was due to his caring and guidance that I "made it through" ... He has a special place in HEAVEN .... the moment he closed his eyes to this world, they were open in the presense of GOD ..... Strength and Comfort to his family ...
