Joyce Paris Obituary

PARIS,
Joyce M.
"Joy'cie - Girl"

On January 15, 2011 at the Hospice House Spokane, while still holding the ever present hand of her beloved husband, Gary, her "Gare-Bear," "Joy'cie-Girl" began a new path of adventure, leading the way for "Gare- Bear" to follow her.
Joyce was born to Edward and Annie (Lewis) Blake on August 6, 1932 in Northwood Hills, Middlesex, U.K. Following the war years, Joyce attended the notable Harrow County Girls School by way of an academic scholarship. Upon graduation, she worked with British Overseas Airway and then for the British Foreign Office.
Joyce was an "honor graduate" of EWU, Class of '86 when her dear friend and mentor, Sally Wellman, coached her into the masters program with a future in education. Joyce became a university instructor in 1989 in EWU's ELI program. She just loved it! Teaching became her passion - she touched a lot of people's lives.
"Joy'cie-Girl" enjoyed gardening, stream fishing, show-shoeing, Bloomsdays, writing letters to the editor, hiking and backpacking. She did protective escort work for those in need and was a strong voice for women's rights.
Joyce, "Joy'cie-Girl" is survived by her husband, Gary "Gare-Bear," at the home; brother, Peter Blake, Barnstable, Cornwall, U.K.; sister, Shirley Maeder (Hans) Pawleys Island, SC; sons: Philip Hinckley (Dodie), Spokane, WA and Glenn Hinckley (Tara) also of Spokane, WA; daughter, Paula Cosentino (Eric) Post Falls, ID and special neighbors Cheryl and Randy; and last...but far from least...her best friend, "Precious Pup."
While no services will be held, a moment's recognition of her contributions to humanity would be greatly appreciated.

I was very saddened to learn of Joyce's passing. I have many many fond and wonderful fun memories of Joyce. She will always be remembered for her enjoyment of life and allowing others to share that life with her. My thoughts are with the family.
