GROVES, Reginald J.
(Age 85)


Entered into eternal rest February 28, 2011 in Ritzville, Washington. Reggie was born October 18, 1925 in Chappell, Nebraska to Earl S. and Josephine A (Thermar) Groves. He attended Deuel County, Nebraska schools and graduated in 1944. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps January, 1945 and served during WWII in the Pacific Theater, earning a Purple Heart and attaining the rank of Corporal in less than one year. Following the war he returned home to farm with his father until 1980, when he moved to Ritzville, with his sister: Geraldine Sommers and farmed until retirement in 2009. He was a resident at Life Care Center in Ritzville for the past year and a half until his death. He attended St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ritzville. Reggie is survived by his sisters: Geraldine Sommers of Ritzville, Nathalie Hoff of Medford, OR; nephew, Steven (Rose) Hoff of Reedley, CA; and three great-nephews. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME - RITZVILLE . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ritzville. Burial will be in Chappell, Nebraska. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of your choice.
