Richard Solberg Obituary

SOLBERG,
Richard R.
(Age 76)

Passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 in Spokane Valley WA. Dick was born to Ralph and Alma Solberg in Grandview, WA and was raised in the Yakima Valley. He worked for Continental Baking-Wonder/Hostess for many years. Dick later became a union representative for the Teamsters from which he retired. He loved to sing and was a longtime member of the Pages of Harmony, the choir at church, and was part of the barbershop quartet "Inspiration". Dick was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, a volunteer at the food bank and was proud to have donated 11 gallons of platelets at the Blood Bank. He was also a longtime loving caregiver for his wife, helping in her battle with Parkinson's disease. Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years Delores; sons Jeff and Steve (Kim) Solberg; daughter Kathy Simon; grandchildren Ryan (Staci) Solberg of Dexter OR, Luke Solberg and Kelsey (Chris) Lewis; and many relatives scattered throughout the country. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at Cancer Care NW, Sullivan Park Assisted Living/Care Center and the loving congregation of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dee and Family, Although you don't know me, I looked up to Dick during his many visits to the Lake City Harmonizers and singouts with Inspiration. May God help you through this trying time, as we know Dick is in a better place.

Dick will be missed greatly... our peace is knowing he is healthy, happy and singing with Jesus right now. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dee, and with your family as you go through this very tough time. It helps to remember that Dick was a very generous and caring man who lived his life for Christ. He was a great example of how we all need to help one another. We were very blessed to know him. Together in Christ,
Bob, Shana & family

I knew Dick from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. I will miss him in the Choir and as a Worship Assistant. His Barber Shop performances were awesome. Dick even drug me to a Barber Shop practice one time, wow those guys are good. Dick was kind enough to give me a ride to Choir dozen of times, and I was glad to return the favor when He needed a ride to Chemo and Radiation. Prayers to Dee and the Family

I served with Dick on the supervisory committee for Numerica Credit Union for more than half a dozen years. His dedication was only superceded by his radiant smile. It was a joy to know him. Sweet harmonies Dick in the sweet by-n-by. Jessica Dillon

To the Solberg Family: You don't know me, but I had the pleasure of volunteering with Dick at Spokane Valley Partners Foodbank. Dick and I worked side-by-side on the third Wednesday of every month. He was such a joy and a pleasure to work with and I always looked forward to seeing him and visiting with him! I have greatly missed Dick over the months since he became ill. He was such a kind and gentle man and always had words of encouragement for me and my family. My prayers are with him and all of you at this time. It seems comforting to me that he is pain free and singing with Jesus and all the angels now! God bless you all...

Dick will always be remembered with love and joy. His presence will be missed by our entire family as we all mourn his passing. It makes me smile to think of Dick now singing in the choirs of heaven. We look forward to seeing him again one day.

To the Solberg Family,
I have known Dick for many years, first as a union rep and later as an active volunteer in our community.I always considered him a great friend as did others who were fortunate enough to meet him.
