Ryan McLaughlin Obituary

McLAUGHLIN, Ryan Michael

Ryan Michael McLaughlin of Spokane passed away from cystic fibrosis on February 14, 2011 with his family by his side, he was 29. Ryan was born September 8, 1981 in Portland, Oregon to Michael and Rae Ann (Roach) McLaughlin, the second of three children.

Ryan is remembered by his many friends and family for his vivaciousness and love of life that defied the very illness he always knew could take him too early. His quick wit and famous one-liners will linger in their memories long after he is gone. His lifelong love of the outdoors, inspired by his father, gave him a love of fishing and camping. Ryan was passionate about life which he expressed through his tattoos.

Ryan was a devoted son, brother, and uncle who had many friends that cherished his selfless generosity and caring attitude. He will be sorely missed by all who were touched by his life.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Michael and Beth McLaughlin of Vancouver, WA, Rae Ann McLaughlin of Vancouver, WA and Michael Wolfe of Spokane, WA; sister, Heidi and brother-in-law, Erik Bennett, of Barre, VT; sister, Ashley McLaughlin, of Vancouver, WA; sister, Nikki Wolfe, of Hayden Lake, ID; and brother Cody Bishop of Vancouver, WA. Ryan leaves behind three nieces that he was very proud of, Madison and Kassidy Bennett and Stella Brady and his godson Wyatt Sonsalla. Also surviving are his grandfathers, Bill McLaughlin, Fred Roach and grandparents Janet and Claude Leonard along with aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Ryan is preceded in death by his grandmother, Arlyne Nelson, aunt, Corrine Roach and uncle, Doug McLaughlin.

A celebration of life will be held on February 19th at Evergreen Memorial Garden and Cemetery, Vancouver, WA at 10 am with a reception following immediately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ryan's family in his memory through Paypal to [email protected]

Ryan, It has been many years since I last saw you, but I always had a soft spot in my heart for you. Although things ended badly between you and my daughter, I was happy that the two of you found forgiveness and reached peace with one another. You were dealt a terrible hand with this disease yet you persevered. My sympathies go out to your family. Bless you and rest in peace.

Ryan, it is apparent how many lives you touched with all of the beautiful comments and wishes for your family's healing. I have know you as long as I can remember and am so thankful for the memories of our childhoods spent in NE. There will not be a fishing trip my brother goes on where you are not thought of. We all love you and miss you and hope that you are looking down upon us with a smile knowing that your time here albeit brief was saturated with all that life has to offer.
