You will be deeply missed in our community Wayne. We both got to know you through being on the volunteer fire department in Deer Meadows/Seven Bays. Your warmth and kindness to us was much appreciated. Until we meet again. Ron and Diana Groff

I knew the Vern Badgley family when they lived in Creston. They were family friends with my parents, the Fred Mangis family. My sister Ethel was friends with Betty. Dale and I were friends too. I think the Badgley family moved to Davenport when I was about 6 or 7 years. Wayne was probably 2 to 3 years old then. I left the Creston/Wilbur when drafted to military service in 1953 and have not been to the area only to visit for over 58 years. Wayne's obit was a wonderful tribute to a generous and well respected person. I extend my condolences to the family. Gale Mangis

I worked with Wayne back when I got out of high school. I raked roads with my best friend, Ricki Heitman, and Gene Anderson, who I was lucky enough that the two of us became friends. I'm not sure what he thought of us at first, but I think that he at least found some entertainment value in our escapades!!We all got to know him and come to love him! He was kind of gruff on the outside, but he was sweet and so kind when you got to know and care about him. Years later when I would be in Davenport for a reunion, I was always so happy to get to visit with him and he seemed happy to see me. People like Wayne are the people who makes living in a small town the best place to live. It makes me very sad to hear of his passing. He will be missed! The world was a better place just knowing that I could find him in the park on Pioneer Day. My love and prayers go out to everyone who loves Wayne and especially Wayne's family and those closest to Wayne. I know that my dad will be very sad to hear of Wayne's passing. He truly cared and valued his employees.
