Zayana Grace
Zayana Grace Mendez was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 19, 2011. After experiencing comp-lications from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, her parents were able to hold their angel in their loving arms as she flew back to heaven.
Zayana Grace is the daughter of Ernesto and Christina (Abrahamson) Mendez. She blessed all with her presence on December 23, 2010 and was expected to live mere hours or days. This miracle baby lived a full and vibrant 16 weeks and was loved deeply by family and friends. Her beautiful brown eyes were a treasure of reassurance and hope. Blessed with a full head of hair, she loved to have it brushed and accented with colorful bows. Bathtime was a favorite as she was able to discover just how well she could move and afterward she relished her apricot oil massages. Listening to music always brought a smile, especially when she could watch someone sing along. She enjoyed feeling soft blankets with her long, graceful fingers and cuddling with her little Peter Rabbit. She had an uncanny way of knowing just what someone needed- be it a comforting look, beautiful smile or silly action. Full of personality beyond her years, Zayana was feisty, determined, loving and playful. Zayana was a fighter and taught us all about true strength and courage. She touched the souls of all who knew her and has left a lasting impact on this world. Our warrior princess will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on April 29th at 4pm at Southwest Bible Church in Beaverton, OR. Donations can be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation in Zayana's honor at www.oif.org.

Zayana Grace touched all of our hearts so deeply. Though her life on earth ended much too soon, her beautiful and amazing spirit will live on forever. I learned so much from this precious, sweet baby girl and her incredible, loving parents. I was reminded by this loving family to have courage, strength through adversity, hope, a faith that never falters, and a love that can move mountains. She will be missed my lil man was born on the 15 of dec of last year n was In the nicu for 2 months then came home for less then 3 weeks wound up in icu its hard but each one of these snowflakes brings awareness to tjis disease wether they live a full life or a short one but god knows before we do the plan n the life we all will have n he knows when it ends but she is so beautifull n is with god

I don't know your family, but I read Zayana's obituary this morning. I am so sorry for your loss. Reading about your sweet angel really touched my heart. I can't even begin to imagine the grief that you are experiencing right now. I have two little boys of my own and I remember how precious those first few months with them were. I am so grateful that you got to spend as much time with this princess as you did. What a miracle! It sounds like she was a fighter with a beautiful spirit and held on as long as she could to bring great joy to those who knew and loved her, even if for a short while. Funny that just reading about the life of a little angel, whom I have never met, and seeing her picture, also brought joy to me. Of course, my heart aches for you, but reading about her made me smile. Zayana was clearly lucky to have such loving and devoted parents. Her smile says it all. Again, I am so sorry for your own heart ache and grief. Lean on each other, those who love you, and mostly on God. He is your strength and will get you through this. Blessing to you all
