Ida was my favorite all time Mountaineer! We enjoyed many nights around campfires with Ida and Tony. Butter on morel mushrooms, butter on fiddle head ferns, butter on just about anything when Ida was cooking. Ida was an inspiration to generations of backpackers and always had special tips for her students when she taught in the Backpacking School for the Mountaineers. Definitely one of the Greatest Generations! Ida and Tony both touched so many lives. Goodbye dear friend.

Ida was a member of River Ridge Association of Fine Arts from about 2000 to 2005. She was a wonderful artist and active member. Her book "Life on Hold" was so impressive. I lost touch with her after she left the art group and I was in the south for winters. It is good to see that she continued to be the active and lovely person I knew. She left so many great memories. My sympathy to her close friends and family who will surely miss this wonderful woman. I am still a member of River Ridge Association of Fine Arts and will let those who may remember Ida know that she has gone home to God.

Ida was the best teacher ever! She shared her story in my Humanities class at Shadle and I was in awe. Such a tiny, petite woman who stood up in such a horrendous time of war and talked about being held captive. She really was an incredible woman with a huge heart for others and always smiling. As a young student, I admired and respected her so much. Her story had a great impact on those of us who got to hear it. Rest in Peace beautiful lady.

I never had Mrs. Rowe (as I knew her) as a teacher at Shadle Park High School, but I vividly remember her speaking to our history class about her personal experiences during the Second World War. It is one of my most important memories of high school, and she was one of the inspirations for my being a history teacher. Thank you, Ida!!!

When I met Ida so many years ago, she struck me as being "a real human being": friendly, quick witted, curious and interested and a great story-teller. I would love to have spent more time with Ida over the years but I cherish the few moments we shared. Definitely, one of the "Greatest Generation". Peace to all of the family. Best wishes, Lynn Pilgrim-Little, Santa Fe, NM

Mrs. Rowe was my homeroom teacher for all three years at Shadle. One very fine and wonderful lady. She fully understood my circumstances of delivering papers every morning and working full-time after school until 9:00 PM everyday and on the weekends. She would let me sleep during homeroom with no issues. She never marked me late when I arrived after the starting time because of issues with the paper routes. I loved her for her caring and compassion. Nice to see that she lived such a long life.

SO very saddened to hear you have left us 'Mrs. Rowe'. We've all had a teacher or two that has left such an impact on us that they are thought of frequently throughout our lives. YOU are one of mine! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experiences and love with us at Shadle Park, especially when it was very difficult for you to go back in time. Thank you also for the wonderful visit we had when my kids got to meet you. What an inspiration! Go rest now with the angels, for now you have earned your wings. You will be greatly missed.....
