Marjorie USTICK Obituary

News Death Notice

USTICK, Marjorie T. 93, of Springfield, passed away Friday morning, February 21, 2014 in The Legacy at Forest Glen following several years of failing health. She was born in Galt, Ontario, Canada on September 11, 1920, the daughter of the late Thomas and Clara (Scroggins) Brown. After completing high school, Marj briefly worked at the family business, Scroggins Shoe Company and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where she met Robert W. Ustick II, an officer in the RCAF. They married on June 18, 1946 and moved to Bob's home town of Springfield, Ohio. Bob's career with Sears gave the family the adventure of moving to ten different cities across the U.S. before returning to Springfield in 1971. Marj was active in the Community Hospital Auxiliary and the Young Women's Mission. Forever the homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. Marj and Bob loved to travel and their trips took them across the U.S., Canada and the British Isles. She is survived by her three children, Judy Lachey (Ken) of Springfield, Robert W. "Trey" Ustick III of San Diego, California and Jeffrey B. Ustick (Susan Murnen) of Felton, California; four grandchildren, Robert W. "Riev" Ustick IV (Vanessa), Casey Ustick, Brenna Ustick, and Cara Ustick; a great grandson, Maddox Ustick; a nephew, John Dowding (Cheryl Armstrong); and a niece, Terri Dowding (Harold Hall). She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Jack Dowding. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the entire staff at The Legacy at Forest Glen and Gentiva Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 3085 Woodman Dr., Suite 200, Dayton, OH 45420 or a charity of your choice. Judy and family,
So sorry to read of Marj's passing. After we moved to West Mile, she was the first neighbor we met through Carm. I always loved talking to your mom. She could come up with the funniest things to say and always was so nice to us. When she would walk up to see Carm, I would always call to her and she would throw her hand up and just wave and wave. I really missed seeing her in the neighborhood after she moved to Forest Glen. Please accept our condolences. Bob & Helen Parker
