News Death Notice

MASSIE, Barbara L. 73, of Springfield, died Thursday evening, December 23, 2010 in Forest Glen Health Campus. She was born in Springfield on July 5, 1937 the daughter of Harry H. and Gertrude (Carlos) Baker. Barb worked as secretary at First United Church of Christ for 25 years retiring in 2008. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Barb enjoyed spending time with her children grandchildren and friends, needlework, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Survivors include her mother, Gertrude Baker of Springfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Jason Mogle of Cincinnati and Mary and Toby Schofield of Springfield; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Roger Rutledge of Springfield; grandchildren, Danielle and Allison Mogle and Abigail and Andrew Schofield; a nephew, Roger (Missy) Rutledge; and a great niece, Hannah Rutledge. She was preceded in death by her father and her husband, David J. Massie. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Raymond Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. You may express condolences to the family at www.littletonandrue.com

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. I truely LOVED Barb and thought of her as a great friend. We always had so much fun in the mornings, talking about the day before. What a wonderful person to have known. God Bless you all and know she is in a better place now.
