News Death Notice
APPLIN, Todd Anthony 39 of Springfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2011 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1971 in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Ohio State School for Deaf, 1990, where he was avid basketball player, MVP for 3 yrs, playing point guard. He was employed at Frisches. His survivors include mother, Cecilia (Sally) Applin of Wapakoneta, Ohio, father and stepmother, Melvin (Colleen) Applin Sr., of Springfield, brother, Melvin (Tina) Applin Jr., of Wapakoneta, OH, stepbrother Aaron (Beth) Cosby of Springfield, OH paternal grandmother Beautine Applin of Springfield, maternal grandmother Lucille Armstrong of Glendale, AZ, a special daughter, Shelly Greathouse, and a host of family, friends. service for Todd Applin will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Porter- Qualls Funeral Home 823 S. Yellow Springs St., Springfield, Ohio. Visitation will be 11:00am until time of service, which will be at 12noon with Reverend Dr. John E. Freeman officiating. internment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls Funeral Home.

Todd you were my cousin, but I did not know you. After reading all these wonderful thoughts and memories I believe I missed knowing a very wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers go out to my Aunt Beautine and cousin Chubby (Melvin).

Nephew, I love and continue to miss you. Although I live in Arizona, everytime I came back to Springfield, you were always there with you funny smile. All of the family heart is sad and hurting since we lose you. But I believe that you are up in heaven already looking down and doing what God had plans for you. To my Ohio family I wish I was there to be with all of you. But my prayers and love is with you all!

A memory of Todd Applin, I don't know him very well but I've meet him through Sandra Milum and Russell Smith. He was very nice, funny and sweet man. Our thought and prayers goes with the Applin family in Springfield.. You will be truly sadly missed.. RIP Todd Applin, Kristina, Angelica and Ashlee..

I have a memory of Todd Applin he used to teach my son Elzie milum to draw a picture when Elzie were 7 and he cant beleive Todd Applin pass away all of sudden now my son cry..... he missed Todd memory... my son is 20 year old he called him uncle Todd even my daughter Samantha Milum missed him since we all meet him 1995 that he alway stop by see us so far memory Todd applin I love you alway as Bro.

Beautine Applin, What a woinderful and great guy Todd was. He will be sadly missed; and everyone who knew him will have a place in their heart for all of eternity. Death is such a mystery, we are taught from our childhood to expect death, but until it happens, it is a mystery. It is here today for all of us to wonder about and to ask our Lord for guidance. Our hearts hurt so terribly today as we ask, why?Todd suffered enough in life and now is in the hands of his real maker. I remember i only met ya once at springfield deaf social 4 months ago in june...it was really great 2 meet ya in person and make me laugh,,we did got our phone number to text each other but when my phone got cutted off...i only remember of u make me laugh and make a great conversation till i heard shocking news so i was upset but i know God will have u holdin his hand and walk on the beautiful beach with sunset goin down...i only known u once but will never forget u, ur my homie and love ya.....and my most prayers go to Todd's family with my blessing......Let god's hands be comfortable with his family...amen

I was Todd's school librarian at Ohio School for the Deaf. I am very sad to hear of Todd's death. He was always a gentleman in the library. I am sorry for his family's loss.
