Jake got me involved with CTA (teacher's union) in the 1970's while I was a 4th year social studies teacher at Dowdell and he was THE Veteran!! Because of Jake I stayed active as a CTA rep the rest of my total 34 years as a teacher. He was a great Man and now the LORD has another hard working angel!

I served with Jake on the Delong during the Korean war as a sonarman. He was my boss and was a great friend to me and the rest of the sonar gang. My wife and I will be attending the grave side service and will be leaving right after for the Navy DE sailors reunion in Washington D.C. We will remember him to the Delong sailors who will be there and I am writing to the association now to let them know of his passing. Our heartfelt condolences to Margaret and all of his beloved family. Al and Dolly Kirkley. St. Pete, Fl.
