i never knew her /feels i do / shes the lady that touched hearts [ from what i read] and that is an everlasting thing few people have got to have in today's world we live in,,,its true God has a plan what that plan is,sorry to say only he knows the answer to it. Congratulations! Francesca Luciana Martino met all requirements for her Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering (aka rocket science). She had already completed 200 credits when it takes 120 credits to graduate. She will be honored at a special ceremony at the 2010 Spring Graduation of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where her parents will be proud to accept her diploma. She was majoring in aerospace engineering, aerospace studies, and minoring in mechanical engineering, mathematics, human factors (ergonomics) and psychology, while interning at NASA.
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

My dear cousins,
My time around Francesca was sparce and yet she always left me thinking of my own experiences. When I was around her it felt like we had spent lots of time together. I greatly admired her warm and out going nature. I also worked at NASA, Johnson Space Craft Center during my youth (mid 70's last three Apollo flights). I loved every minute of it as I know Francesca did.
My heart stopped the moment I heard of her death and I still feel the hurt today. I can only hope that you can find peace in Gods will and comfort in all of the praise Francesca has received. God speed to all of you and all my love.

It is a mystery why one so loved and loving was taken so soon. God promised us that the mysteries of the world will be revealed to us. That means one day we will know what His plan was with this lovely young woman. My heart aches for your loss but my heart rejoices that she lived life to the fullest and gave her family and her friends such joy.

My heart goes out to your family. I wish I had the perfect word to make all the heartache go away, but there is no word that can make it all better. I know she is fulfilling her dream in a place no astronaut could ever go. God will take care of your little angel until the day you meet again. I pray God will give your family a peace. My heart aches as I write this to you - not sure if you would receive it or not. Francesca has been on my heart for a little over 3 months. Our son, Tyler loves Space. He will be 7 on November 5th - I had found her name when I was inquiring about local Astronauts.
For the past 2 years we have had 2 Astronauts send him a personal letter, a picture of themselves, and a word of encouragement... I had saved Francesca's name and information so I could research her a little bit and send her a note asking her if she would take a few minutes to do the same as a birthday gift from his Dad and I.
I waited too long - when I opened the news paper, I was so saddened with grief that she had passed away... I had never met her - yet I was filled with emotion. Maybe because I let too much time go by? Maybe I wish I had contacted her and let Tyler maybe meet her one day - or, maybe God was protecting us from having to meet her and explain her death to a 6 year old...Thinking of you all - an inspiration to many. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. A 23, life is so full of promise and the future. Francesca obviously was the essence of many great things, only to be drawn away from us so quickly. I first met Francesca and some of her family during “KSC Open House” I could here the pride in her mom’s voice as we spoke. I can only think how brighter heaven must now with her presence…God Bless!

Dearest Martino/Tijerina (Cecilia) Family, It is with such heartfelt condolences that I send you this message. May the Lord give you the peace and strength you will need in days and years to come. Although I can't remember the last time I last saw you Cecilia or your daughter Francesca but just knowing that she was a "Tijerina" says it all. The love and kindess is well described and although I did not know Francesca in her adult years she must have been a beautiful young lady and that is how you must always remember her. Rest assured that her "Momo" Tijerina welcomed her into the kingdom of heaven with open arms along with our Lord Jesus Christ. Them two will look down unto your family and will take care of you until you reunite again. All my love and prayers are with you and all your family and May the Good Lord help you through this rough trial and give you guidance now and always. Cecilia, Richard, Alejandra (and family) - Our family is blessed to not only know all of you and count you as friends, but to have enjoyed Francesca's laughter, energy, humor, and love of life! She always took such good care of my two kids when she babysat and she did a great job dog-sitting for us too. We have fond memories of her and are sorry that we will not be graced with her presence and light here again here on earth. We we will miss her until we see her again someday, but we'll always think of Francesca as we look to the sky as she has no doubt reached heaven and is now God's brightest star!
