On the anniversary of Msgr. Fregapane's death, I fondly remember what a great priest he was. One Saturday night vigil Mass, when he served at St. Benedict's the Abbot Church in Lebanon, at the great Amen, holding up the chalice and host, there appeared something that looked like a flame in the middle of the host! It was astounding! Perhaps the sun coming through a window, but I preferred to think it truly was Christ showing His power in the Eucharist through the hands of this holy priest.

In honor of Monsignor Mercurio Fregapane, our Treasured Family Priest and Devout Friend In Christ, we praise Jesus Christ GOD & Our Immaculate Mother Mary, Amen!
My Monsignor, it is hard to believe that it has been four years since you have been called HOME TO BE WITH THE FATHER, as the loss of your presence feels so recent.

You continue to inspire me daily, as I hold such gratitude for everything that you did for my parents and my entire family, and especially me towards the end of your Beautiful Life.
Thank You for bringing me closer to GOD through our MOTHER OF GOD.
And, through your most humble generosity, your wisest words of encouragement, your sincerest Prayers, and your devout actions, you have Uplifted My Life For The Graces of my blessed Catholicism; in order to Learn The Moment-To-Moment Lessons In Following The Holy Will And Sacred Way OF GOD.

Dearest Family,
God gave us a great gift when he allowed us to meet with Msgr. and to have him in our lives. He taught us to value our lives and family and to remember to be happy. We are sorry to hear of your loss but also know that you are left with great memories. We know that his joyful spirit will never die and will remain in your hearts forever. God bless all of you.

When I was school boy in Lancaster, I looked up to Fr Fregapane as a proper role model. I never knew why I so revered him, since I only saw him on rare occasions when he came to help out with saying Mass. Many years later two incidents brought this good and holy priest back into my life, albeit on a spiritual, not secular, level. First, when my brother passed away I was given his "Liber Usualis," which I use frequently at the TLM here in Minnesota. It just so happened that by a long series of events, this had been Fr Fregapane's "Liber" (his name is inscribed inside). And second, and most significantly, I later discovered that Fr Fregapane had baptised me in 1953 in Lancaster. No wonder I instinctively knew he was a holy man. The Almighty makes us aware of things without having to speak out loud.

To his family I send the deepest sympathy. You are joined to Father by blood, I by the blood of Our Lord. In paradisum deducant eum angeli!

Our beautiful "Father Reno" (Father Fregapane) from a 1950s photograph that has hung on my Family's wall since 1953. Amen. It hangs on my wall for alw

Not only a great priest but a great friend. I visited the last couple of weeks of his life. I will never forget that on one of the last visits I made to him the feast of our lady of Guadalupe had recently passed and I sang to him and he joined me as best as he could. I prayed for him and he gave me his blessing before I left, a blessing I will forever cherish. A great friend of my family and will be missed dearly by the Hispanic community of St. Michaels in Clearwater. We lost a friend, a priest and a great man. Descanse en paz monseƱor, nuestro amigo del alma!

My thoughts, love and prayers are with all of you, especially Sr. Mary Veronica. I remember Father as being a very loving, compassionate and caring person - truly, an image of Jesus, Himself. I also recall from many years ago how he and the Chaplain at the Convent of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in Columbia, PA went on a trip to the Deleware Bay to catch some crabs, only to learn they had made a wrong turn and were trying to crab in the Susquehanna River.
Prayerfully,
Sister Leona Hunter, ASC
