Raymond CORMIER Obituary

CORMIER, Raymond J.

went home to the Lord on Oct. 22, 2015. Ray was born in Leominster, MA on Sept. 3, 1931. He was an Ionospheric Physicist as a civilian in the Air Force Laboratories. His areas of research included; high frequency radars, solar physics, electromagnetic propagation, superconductivity, particle physics, space physics, and many other areas in the field and was published often. He received several prestigious awards for science and management including the highest award achievable for civilians. His interests included fishing, snow skiing, reading, photography and gardening. In retirement he became a Fourth degree Knights of Columbus, served as head usher at Light of Christ Church and was president of the Men's Club. Above all his successes he was a dedicated and loving husband and father. His dear wife, Pauline went home to the Lord two years earlier. Ray is survived by his only son, Michael, who is serving as Pastor of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. Ray is also survived by his only sister Anita Forest and her husband Bob, a sister in law, Joanne Cormier and brother-in-law, Charles Paces. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Rays amazing faith, love, work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor has made this world a better place. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Oct. 29 at St. James Catholic Church at 11 am.

Father Michael: Ray and I became friends when I was 4 yrs old and he was 5. Time and distance never diminished our friendship. Ray's loyalty,compassion and moral compass made him someone that everyone he encountered wish they could be more like him.
My prayers will always include Ray, Pauline and you.

He lived a faith filled life and passed his faith along to his children and fulfilled his Christian Duty in this life with the promise of eternal life guided by his Catholic Faith always in mind.
