Chief Petty Officer Pete Canzano served his country, his community and the United States Coast Guard with a special warmth while providing "can do" leadership. In serving Long Island Sound, the Chief was a wonderful "shipmate" whom all truly loved ... working with him was a huge privilege and was full of many lessons from him for me and for all of us ... especially about how to treat people right AND get great results.

Dot, daughters and family, please accept my condolences as I share this loss with you.

I knew Pete through TRFD starting in 1976. He was a mentor and role model to several generations of people. I will never forget him rising at meetings when he thought something was amiss and starting, "Mr. Chairman". He always had the best interest of the firehouse at heart.

He was a member of the Greatest Generation. His service will not be forgotten.

To the Canzano Family,
Pete was my mentor who took me into my first fire on Dunn Ave. His knowledge earned him respect in the fire service and in the Government Center as we worked together on many of Stamford's high rises. It has been an honor to know Pete and the entire Canzano family. Rest in peace my friend. You have earned it.
