Carmine Ralph Uva

CARMINE RALPH UVA, 84 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 5, 1926, son of the late Theresa and Ralph Uva. He was educated in the Stamford public school system until he listed in the Navy May 2, 1944. He served on the USS Natoma Bay CUE 62 in the Pacific. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific metal four stars, the Philippine liberation ribbon two stars and the Victory medal. He was a member of the VFW. He was honorably discharged on May 19, 1946. He was a retired carpenter who worked for Home Craft Builders, Capital Records then Clairol until he retired in 1993. Carmine was an avid fan of most sports, but especially the Giants and UCONN Basketball. He was a loving husband, a good father and a very proud and devoted grandfather. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Kathleen Scanlon Uva, his son, William and his loving granddaughter, Kathleen. In addition, he is also survived by his very close cousins, James and Matthew Terlizzo and his wife, Kathy of Palm Coast, Fla. and many close "loving" family members and friends. He was predeceased by his son James Uva. Friends may call the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street Stamford on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park.
