To the Coughlin Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss and the great loss to the medical community. I had the pleasure of working at St. Joseph's Hospital in the 70's with Dr. Coughlin taking care of his patients. He was greatly respected and loved. I was also a neighbor on Verplank Ave. during those years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To The Coughlin Family,
I was so very fortunate to have worked with Dr Coughlin at St Joseph's Hospital in the ICU and later in the PACU. I used to meet him at ShopRite in Shippan where he liked to shop and talk to people; customers, former or current patients or people working behind the counters. He was so well liked by all. Truly a remarkable and unique human being. My deepest condolences to the entire Coughlin family. He will be deeply missed.

I went to Law School with Frank, and we studied for the Bar Exam together in a small group. Frank always had a steadiness about him, a warmth, class and grace befitting a man aware of his God given talents, his duty to use those talents to help others, and a vision to carry out his duty. There is a Heaven, and Frank is there.

Frank and I worked closely together for many years at Stamford Hospital -- and subsequently on medicolegal matters. We actually published a paper together on a case of fungal chest infection in 1982. He was a great friend, a devoted and dear colleague, and a gentle man who was loved by his patients and colleagues. Frank's support of the Navy League was also widely recognized. We will miss his smile, his warmth, and his wisdom. Love you, Frank.
