Of Horseheads, NY
Was born October 4, 1956 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Earl and Marilyn (maiden name) Colegrove, passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at his home. His family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the Lake Street Presbyterian Church, 300 Lake Street, Elmira, NY from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A Memorial Service honoring his life will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. The Reverend Ross Raymond will celebrate Geoffrey's services. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Carrie & Todd Wenban, 928 Lehigh Ave., Vestal, NY 13850, for an educational memorial fund for Geoffrey's daughters. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for his family in obituaries at www.olthof.com

Geoff was an amazing man, in every sense of the word. Through the years of knowing him , I seen him have ups and downs,but the one thing that was number 1 in his life was his family..He loved them more than words could say..I am honored to have known him and been his friend. I have missed him so much since his passing. He was the most geniune kind hearted soul that I have known. I can remember him giving me pep talks and somehow he would make me feel better even when I did not think is was possible.I have been needing one of his pep talks lately and this morning I woke up and was thinking of him and it brought me here. I think this was his way of giving me that pep talk and letting me know he is still watching over us.. He is so greatly missed..

Mr. Colegrove, you should be an example to all fathers on fathers day for the love, devotion and selflessness which I saw you give your 3 beautiful girls for the last 6 years of my life. Geoff was the greatest friend, counselor, better yet a big brother. Geoff had the nack to make people smile whatever the situation was, good or bad. I will miss you my friend. The lord will watch over you as you watched and cared for the ones you loved or hated. I'm gonna' miss those 7am and 5:30pm to and from work conversations. I am so sorry for your loss. Geoff and I went through school together ever since kindergarten. He was never one of the "boys" that made fun of the gawky girls during those growning up years! I considered him a friend even though we never ran in the same circles. Remember that when you grieve for a loved one, it is vital to recall the cherished details and shared experiences of your lives together. Sheila & Daughters: A word of sincere condolence from a long-lost cousin of Geoffrey. My Dad, Wayne, and Geoff's Dad, Earl, were brothers. I have some wonderful memories of the Colegrove Clan get togethers and family picnics in years past. I loved spending time at Marilyn & Earl's house when the children were quite young..always lots of fun things going on and always so amused by Marilyn's outlook on life. Earl was at the Veteran's Hospital with my Dad so I was able to visit him and reminisce about the good old days..I feel like I know Geoffrey after reading some of these guest book entries and am so sorry for your loss. If you find yourself in the Orlando area, please do call me. I would love to meet you. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers and pray that God's promised Heavenly Home is Geoff's today.

Dad I love you very much and will miss you each day. I have a lifetime of happy memories that I will cherish. I believe God sent you to live with Todd and I for the past year and a half so that we could do together some of things that we have been unable to do since I left home to go away to school and start my life with my husband. Each day when I come home I will be greeted by you at the wonderful stone entranceway that you did last year at my home and you will be with us each night at dinner, your seat will be filled now with your spirit not your body.
I am deeply saddened that your granddaughter Adriana will not get to know you and to come to know what a wonderful heart you had. However, I believe God kept you here on Earth long enough so that you could be with us during her birth and the first 3 weeks of her life. She loves you.

I have considered the Colegrove's my second family for many years. I grew up in the Colegrove house and was also known as "Chatty Kathy." Which will forever bring a smile to my face. Geoff was exteremly kind and generous. He encouraged resposibility but he let us be kids too! I remember when we got older and I brought a boy over to the house he was impressed that he was going to attend an IVY league school and that he golfed! Now that we are all grown up his values have become our values. Geoff will be missed deeply. I love you all and you are in my prayers in this difficult time.

For the first time in years, I ran into my uncle Geoff a few months ago. He couldn't stop talking about how proud he was of his daughters and all of his hopes for the future. What a kind man, and what a full life he lived, although cut short...we should all learn from his warm and friendly style.
