I would like to share a very special story about Beverly. I worked with Beverly at Equifax in Tampa, FL from 1995-1997 in the bank customer service department she was my manager. She was one of the best mangers to work for. At the time I was working there my mother was in the hospital very ill with severe respiratory problems and on a ventilator.
On the morning of Aug 16, 1996 I got a call from the hospital to let me know that my mother's condition had taken a turn for the worst and that I should come right away. After, the call Beverly came over to ask me if everything was okay and I said " I don't think so". Beverly could sense that I was upset and she said that she would drive my car and accompany me to the hospital and have another co-worker come pick her up. This meant so much to me. In a time when production, profits and meeting quotas mattered to most management it was nice to know that even though Beverly was hardworking and dedicated to her job she had compassion and empathy.
When we arrived at the hospital Beverly stayed out in the waiting room and I went in to see my mother. I knew that she would not make it past that day. As I set in the room Beverly came in to console and talk with me, as we were talking I kept asking " do you think she knows that I'm here?" Beverly said of course she does. She knows you love her and that you will always be with her until the end.
Beverly stayed by my side for more than half the day until 1:00 pm. When my other relatives started to arrive Beverly left she made sure that I was not alone. Sadly, that day around 2:47 pm my mother passed away.
Equifax was expanding and needed a larger building so the company moved to St Petersburg, FL.
Beverly did not make the transition to St Petersburg. I heard that she was going back to Pennsylvania. Due to the long commute I left Equifax in 1998.
As the years went by I thought about Beverly and how was she doing. I did a google search to see if I could find her. I came across Beverly's obituary I was deeply saddened she will truly be missed. As the years go by I will never forget that wonderful act of kindness of that day for as long as I live.
