Emma Matera Obituary
Age 84 of Elmira, NY. She was born December 29, 1929 in Sayre, PA, daughter of the late Richard and Beatrice (Beeman) Armstrong and passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her husband Mike F. Matera in 2004 and is survived by her children and their spouses Carol and William McKenzie, Colleen and Carl Larrison all of Elmira, Michael V. and Tina Matera of Horseheads and Michelle and Dean Charles of Elmira; grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) McKenzie, Leslie (David) Zinni, David Larrison, Sarah, Katelyn and Emily Matera; great grandchildren Lucie B, Louis and Liam; sister Beverly Sinsabaugh of Waverly; sister-in-law Josephine Matera and brother-in-law John Caccia both of Elmira along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Matera retired from the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and later volunteered there. Family and friends are invited to her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 14th at 11 am in St. Patrick's Church. Rev. Walter Wainwright, Celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Emma through donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Upstate NY Chapter, 1650 South Ave., Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14620.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I can remember being a little girl out in your backyard while Coleen was teaching me cartwheels and backbends. Meanwhile your Dad was outside building a garage or fence (he always had a project), and your Mom was inside cooking for the family. I am sure your parents are finally together once again smiling down on their proud family. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.
