James Settle Obituary

James Hilry Settle, 74, of Castleton, Virginia passed away at his residence Thursday, October 11, 2007. James was born October 13, 1932 to Luther Settle and Lottie Whorton Settle in Castleton, Virginia; retired from the Arlington County School Board after 31 years service; enjoyed wildlife; good food; his dog, Lady and had a contagious laugh. Surviving Mr. Settle is his wife Lorena Hitt Settle of Castleton, Virginia; his son, Ricky James Settle and his wife Jan of Castleton, Virginia; his daughter, Carolyn Susan Butler of Castleton, Virginia; his granddaughter, Erin Zeamer of Luray, Virginia; his brother, Hushel Settle and his wife Joyce of Castleton, Virginia; his sisters, Gladys Southard of Culpeper, Virginia, Virginia Compton and her husband David of Castleton, Virginia and Lois Smith and her husband Joe of Culpeper, Virginia. Mr. Settle was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Lorraine Mallory and Dorothy Settle. Funeral services will be held in the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lee Brown conducting the service. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Jeffersonton, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
