John Turner Obituary

John F. Turner John F. Turner, Retired Major US Army, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2010 in Warrenton, VA.

He was born in Newport, KY on April 7, 1922. He served his country for 24 years seeing combat with the 14th Armored Division in World War II where he earned two bronze stars and the combat infantry badge. He served as past President of the 14th Armored Division Association and Past Commander of American Legion Post 247 in Remington and VFW 9835 in Warrenton.

He is survived by his wife, Adele; daughter Janet T. Montgomery of Leesburg; son Carlton R. Turner of Warrenton; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 6-8 PM at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, Oct. 8 at the Warrenton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Junior ROTC Scholarship Fund, c/o Liberty High School, 6300 Independence Ave., Bealeton, VA 22712 or The Fauquier SPCA, PO Box 733, Warrenton, VA 20188.
