Alvin Paul "Mike" Grigsby Alvin Paul "Mike" Grigsby, 85, of Castleton, died at home on Monday, September 20, 2010. Mike was a native of Rappahannock County, where he was born on March 11, 1925. He was a son of the late Paul and Maggie Grimsley Grigsby. He was a member of Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church and a World War II Veteran. Mike spent most of his life as a farmer and enjoyed nurturing the land and the animals that called it home. He also was a carpenter, an avid gardener and a bus driver for Rappahannock County Schools. Mike was well known for a quick smile, his love for family and friends, his sense of humor, bountiful gardens and spending time with his beagles.

He is survived by two daughters and three sons; Lillian A. Norman and her husband Nick, Wendy S. "Suzi" Smith, James A. Grigsby and his wife Louise, Floyd T. Grigsby and his wife Laura, Ricky L. "Rick" Grigsby and his wife Susan. Additional survivors include six grandchildren; Curtis R. "Randy" Norman, Jason T. Grigsby, Dorthe B. Grigsby, Karen E. Nalls, Julie L. Ross, and Owen M. Smith and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Louise Faulkner of Warrenton and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Strother Grigsby, four brothers, William Dudley "Dudley" Grigsby, Floyd Daniel Grigsby, Charles Edward "Charlie" Grigsby and Kerry Patterson "K.P." Grigsby; and two sisters Ada Virginia Settle-Burke and Isa Mae Grigsby.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Burke officiating.

Interment will follow at the Grigsby Family Cemetery near Castleton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church and/or Hospice of the Rapidan.
