Nelson Bender Waibel Nelson Bender Waibel, 81, of Rapidan died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born April 23, 1929 in Hockessin, DE to the late John and Annie Carson Waibel.

Mr. Waibel was a veteran of the Unites States Marine Corp and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Culpeper American Legion Post # 330 and worked as a self employed construction and grader worker.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shirley Ann Waibel, his children, Pamela Gallo and her husband, John of Ellicott City, MD, Debra Thompson and her husband, Charles of Manassas, Heather Waibel of Houston, TX, two stepchildren, Thomas Dowell of Powhatan, VA and Gary Dowell of Orange, and one brother, William Waibel.

Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Christy Skinner and her husband, Jason of Merrimac, MA, Angela Gallo of Catonsville, MD, Jeannette Blacker of Manassas, two step grandchildren, William Dowell of Madison and Philip Dowell of Orange, and two great grandchildren, Mason Gallo of Merrimac, MA and James Blacker of Manassas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Norman Waibel, Rule Waibel, Melvin Waibel, Leroy Waibel and Madelyn Green.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. John Farrar officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.

Interment will follow Culpeper National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Found, Tony Skinner, Tommy Ross, Joe Bennett, Isaac Soto and David Pilgrim.
