Roberta Settle Fender Roberta Settle Fender, age 89, of Culpeper died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Mountain View Nursing Home. She was born May 25, 1922 in Culpeper to the late Minnie A. and Callie Fincham Settle.

Mrs. Fender was born and raised in Culpeper. She graduated and moved to Washington, D.C. where she met and married her husband Ross C. Fender. She attended Strayer Business College. She retired after 44 years from the Federal Home Loan Bank Board after having served as the acting comptroller of the United States. Roberta was very family oriented and took great pride and joy in her family.

She is survived by one sister, Edna Green of Culpeper, one brother, Charles Settle of Warrenton as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross C. Fender, and three brothers, Albin, Howard and Melvin Settle.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va. with Rev. Jack Barrett officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Nicholson, Randy Shifflett, Justin Shifflett, Stratford Settle and Howard Green, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Rd., Roanoke, VA 24019. An online guestbook and tribute wall is available at www.foundandsons.com
