Stewart Willis Hawkins Stewart Willis Hawkins, age 59, of Lawrenceville, IL (formerly of Washington, VA) passed away October 24, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born July 16, 1951 in Front Royal, Virginia the son of Milton Mortimore and Dorothy (Burke) Hawkins.

Stewart was a retired EMS Director of Lawrence County Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service, had worked as a part-time Deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, was a Deputy Coroner, and had been an instructor of Emergency Medical Services. Prior to his move to Illinois, he worked as a paramedic, law enforcement, as well as fire and rescue in Virginia.

Stewart was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Elks, Moose, and the Lawrence County Rotary Club. He attended 1,126 Rotary meetings without ever missing. He joined the Rotary in 1984 and was still an active member. He was past president for the year 1989-1990, had been a long-time treasurer and board member of the Rotary.

Stewart was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother Dorothy of Washington, VA and one brother Ronald Davidson Hawkins. of Manassas, VA.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm Thursday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, IL. A memorial service will be 6 pm Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial service with interment of ashes will be held at a later date in Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington, VA.

Memorials may be made to the Lawrenceville Rotary Scholarship Fund, Shop With a Cop, or Lawrence County Ambulance Service. Condolences may be sent to www.emmonsmaceysteffey.com

im Courtney Carter and he was a great person. I regret missing his funeral but I know he understands why he was a great person. I love and miss him.
