MORRILL - Lila Lee Schwindt, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Heritage Estates in Gering.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Morrill with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Morrill Volunteer Fire Department. Her obituary may be viewed at www.jones-mortuary.com, where condolences may be left.
Lila Lee was born to James "Elmer" and Verle "Lucille" Parsons in Henry on Jan. 23, 1927. The family moved to Morrill where she graduated from Morrill High School in 1944. After graduation she attended Scottsbluff Junior College for one year, training for work as a Secretary. She married Ed Schwindt on Aug. 5, 1951 in Morrill, where they lived for the majority of their years together.
Lila Lee loved to play her piano and organ. She entertained family and friends for many hours over the years with her own renditions of songs she heard on the radio and those she created on her own.
She enjoyed keeping up with family and friends with her many letters, Christmas and Birthday cards.
She also had an affinity for crossword puzzles. Her family kept her well supplied with crossword puzzle books of all shapes and sizes. No matter how big or complicated they were, she always finished them. A Star-Herald could never be thrown away with an incomplete puzzle.
Later in life, she found a new love, her grandson's sport interests. Lila Lee became an expert on the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche and of course Nebraska Football.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ed Schwindt of Morrill; son, Jim and wife Cathy Schwindt of Gering; daughter, Diana Schwindt and her daughters, Adrienne and Ellie of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister, Beverly and husband Wayne Thies of Frankfort Ind.; nephews, Rodney and Randy; nieces, Robin and Rita; grandchildren, Adam and Carolyn Schwindt of Johnson Lake, Neb.; Jennifer Herman of Gering; Jeffry and Michele Schwindt of Omaha; and great-grandchildren, Whitney, Alyssa and Janaye of Gering; and Ashton, Bradon and Landon of Omaha.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Elmer and Lucille Parsons, and granddaughter Meredith Schwindt.
