Julia Ann Gray Self

Julia Ann Gray Self, 101, passed away on October 3, 2017 at her residence in Starkville, MS.  She was a homemaker and a Baptist.  She loved her church, her family, flower gardening, quilting, playing the piano, travelling, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Carroll Gray and Dell Edwards Gray; husband, Ellis Matthews Self; As 1 of 10 children, Mrs. Self was also preceded in death by siblings, William Guy (Bud) Gray, Thomas Carrol (TC) Gray, Jr., John Franklin (Bully) Gray, Sam Fitzgerald Gray, Howard Fredrick Gray, and Robert Lee Gray, Sr.;
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Carol Buster of Hoover, AL; sons, Preston Self (Betty), and Edwin Self (Mary) of Starkville, MS; sister, Francesca Dell Gray Laufer of Annandale, VA; brothers, James Moore (Jimmy) Gray of West Point, MS, and Stanley Randolph Gray of Brooksville, MS; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel.  Rev. Allen Dees will conduct the service.
