Mary Nicholson Obituary

Mary L. Nicholson, 87, of Glastonbury, Conn., formerly of Short Hills, N.J., died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, in the Glastonbury Health Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury, Conn. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Franklin, Mass. Born May 29, 1924, in Newark, N.J., daughter of the late Thomas J. and Catherine (Bentley) Nicholson, Mary had lived in Irvington, N.J., and Short Hills, N.J., before moving to Glastonbury three years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1986, Mary was an executive secretary for Prudential Life Insurance Co. for 43 years. Mary was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, N.J., and was a member of the choir, Life Lighters, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the church. Mary is survived by her niece and nephews and their spouses, Mary Kay and Richard Healy of Hebron, Conn., Douglas and Sheila Atkins of Norfolk, Mass., and Keith and Denise Atkins of Leesburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Robert Atkins of Franklin, Mass., and her grandnieces and grandnephew. She was predeceased by a brother, Walter Nicholson, and a sister, Eileen Atkins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

We had such fun in Choir rehearsals, Choir parties, and our dinners at Joe's American. You have been a lovely and loyal friend. We will miss you, Mary.

It is with great sorrow that we learn of Marys death. What a marvelous lady ! We have many many fond memories of her in ST.Rose SH,NJ choir. Our deepest sympathy to all her extended family.
