Cecelia Dohen Gregory of Montclair, N.J., died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 4, 2013, surrounded by her children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Cassian R.C. Church, Bellevue Avenue, Montclair. Interment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. Visiting will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair. caggianomemorial.com. Born July 23, 1929, in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Gregory was the daughter of William J. and Elizabeth A. Gutscher Dohen. A graduate of St. Barnabas High School, she attended the College of Good Counsel, White Plains, N.Y., and later earned a bachelor of English degree from Kean College. She and her husband, Edward Reed Gregory, who died in July 1999, were married on Oct. 28, 1950. They began their married life in Bayside, N.Y., and moved to Montclair in 1969. Mrs. Gregory is survived by a sister, Matilde Nolte (Norbert) of Schuylerville, N.Y.; and her eight children, Judith M. Gregory (Lawrence Pierce), Ballston Spa, N.Y., Joseph R. Gregory (Marie-Gaelle), Paris, France, Edward P. Gregory (Marylyn), Bernardsville, N.J., Elizabeth A. Gregory (David Black), Avondale Estates, Ga., Sheila G. McMenamin (Joseph), Bernardsville, Mary G. Suminski (Richard), Hershey, Pa., Daniel J. Gregory (Martha), Summit, N.J., and Jane G. Dwyer (Timothy), Wayne, Pa. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and a great-grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews and very dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Betty and Dorothy Dohen, and Eveleen Gallagher. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Catholic Relief Service, or the Oratorio Society of New Jersey would be appreciated.
