I worked with Joe in the intelligence division at Rhein-Main Airbase, Germany in the early 80's. He was a captain. Joe was a good natured man who didn't take himself too seriously, laughed a lot and had a big smile most of the time. We enjoyed each other. It's sad to learn that this good man did not have a longer life.

Joe and I were roommates our Sophomore year at NCA&T and in ROTC together. He was a great person and friend and will be solely missed. I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Sharpless family.

I was very sad to find out about Joe's passing from his Uncle in the Langley AFB commissary many months later. Joe and I were classmates at N.C A&T to include AF ROTC. He was a kind and humble man. We, all of his ROTC classmates, will forever miss him. Our belated condolences to all his family and friends.

We are sadden to here of Joe's passing. He was a good, warm and friendly person. Although we never had to ask him for anything, we knew if the time ever came that we did, we knew he would be there.
