Charles Agnoff Obituary

CHARLES AGNOFF Charles (Chuck) Agnoff passed away on March 29, 2016 in Boca Raton, Florida with his beloved wife of 60 years Evelyn, by his side. He was born October 13, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, to Syd and Sol Agnoff. At age fourteen he was accepted into the prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School and later received a BS degree in engineering from CW Post on Long Island while starting his own manufacturer's representative company. His wife and children proudly attended his graduation from college. He later became Vice-President of General Bearing Company before starting Interroll USA, a manufacturer of Material Handling Components, located in Long Island, NY. In 1988, Chuck brought Interroll to Wilmington, along with forty-five families, paving the way for other businesses to relocate and set up shop in eastern North Carolina. In 1995, he stepped down as President and CEO of Interroll. Never one for retirement, Chuck soon founded Orbita Corporation, which became the leading manufacturer of watch winders for automatic watches and a winner of a 2013 Coastal Entrepreneur Award. Chuck's business ventures turned him and Evelyn into world travelers, with friends and colleagues spanning the globe. In addition to his contagious zest for life, he was an avid boater, storyteller and inventor. Chuck is survived by his wife Evelyn, and his children, Susan Agnoff, Steve and (Mindy) Agnoff, Karen and (Mark) Lampkin, and four grandchildren, his pride and joys, Erica and Samantha Agnoff and Lexi and Spencer Lampkin. Once settling in Wilmington, Chuck immersed himself into community service with open arms and served as Chairman of the Cape Fear Community College Board of Directors and Chairman of the Cape Fear Museum. He was a fundraiser with United Jewish Appeal and an active member of the Temple of Israel. Visitation will be held for family and friends Thursday, March 31st, 6-8 pm at Andrew's Mortuary (Valley Chapel) 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, April 1st, 11:00 am at Andrew's Mortuary 1617 Market Street, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LGL Leukemia Foundation or a charity of your choice.

I can't say enough about this man. I had hoped that he would live forever. He was a father to so many of us that were fortunate to work for him. Always challenging us. Encouraging us to be better, smarter. Occasionally in the midst of our work or company celebrations he would tell wonderful stories of his past and allowed us to see that this strong, driven man could be quite tender. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren passionately. And I know they will miss him. As will I.
Mr A, thank you.
