I am reading "What Happens When Women Pray. I am so inspired and encouraged by the simplicity of the message I wanted to reach out and talk to this woman of God. I am in need of a mentor who would challenge and direct my path only to find an obituary of her passing on to "glory". I pray that there is someone who has taken up the mantel to guide others as she has. Gone but not forgotten because her work is still touching the heart. It has touched mine. We need one another. I am also a Pastor´s wife in the inner city of New Orleans, LA. God bless the family.

God´s timing is always perfect! His plan carried out in every detail. Holy Week brings this truth bolder each year- now 72 in 2023. I read Evelyn´s `What Happens When Women Pray´ in the 1980s. Its message & leaders guide turned me into a prayer warrior for my family & friends & church. I met Evelyn in WI, taking a crushed friend with me. God IS love. All serve according to HIS purpose when awestruck we realize HE touched ME!! Prayer and praise in ALL situations becomes the FIRST response from that point on. On April 14, 1979, Easter Saturday, God took our mother (52) home leaving her youngest son still in high school and her first grandchild 15 months old. Blessed are we by each of our unique paths that bring us home to the Father and our brother, Jesus. I am Eternally grateful that you mother was there to instruct & supports my prayer life. Blessings. Happy Easter! Peggy White, Wisconsin

I just learned that Evelyn passed many years ago. I felt compelled to share with her family what I am sure they have heard countless times.
I was given her book, Lord Change Me as a gift in 1985 on the island of Guam. We were stationed there as a young military family with very young children. I eagerly read her book and even had the opportunity to see her speak on Guam! I felt led to read it again in 1993. Now as a 64 year old grandmother I have just read it for the third time. It has become more meaningful with each reading. I am so appreciative that this booked is "bathed" in scripture from the first chapter to the last.
This side of heaven, we never fully know the lives we influence. Evelyn has influenced mine.

My sincere condolence to the Christenson family. I did not know that this Prayer General has gone home to be with her precious Lord. I was reading her great book, Lord Change Me, and I decided to search her name to see if she has written another book on prayer, only to see her obituary. I was saddened to hear that she is gone but happy that she is now resting with the Lord. RIP Kingdom General!!!

I did not realize that Evelyn had passed a year ago. Her books touched my heart since I was a college student searching for a book on prayer. I am now 55 years old. I found her last book about a year ago and began going through it as I did with all her books, savoring the words, taking what she was saying to heart. She had a way of writing that made you believe she was writing to a friend. Rest in peace, kind and gentle servant of God. You had a long life serving the Lord and it's time for us to follow in your path and show the world what happens when women pray.

When God called me 8 years ago to start a prayer team for our youth ministry, a wise intercessor who was praying for me gave me Evelyn's books. Since then I have reread them about once a year, and I give a copy of What God Does When Women Pray to each woman who joins our team. Recently God called one of our just-graduated youth to begin a similar prayer team for our college ministry, and when she asked me for counsel I 1)prayed for her and 2)told her to buy Evelyn's books! Praise God Evelyn is with Jesus!

Many of us are Grateful to God For Evelyn's Life. Her books on Prayer were a real Blessing to those of us who lived in the Inner City "The Hood" for many years. I am so sorry I was unable to attend her Homegoing Service as I was traveling. I am grateful, I had a chance to speak with her while I visited my daughter in Brooklyn Park, MN. We had a Blessed time on the telephone and she shared many things with me as well as her opinion on many things happening within the Church World. It was such a delighful telephone fellowship. I wanted to visit her, but we both thought for her we should visit on the phone. This was just a few weeks ago. She was so strong on the phone, so alert, she was just "Evelyn"! She prayed for me and encourage me to write my book as she thought I was Called by God to do so, and I prayed for her. She wanted me to call her back because we wanted me to need somone in California that was doing outreach work. But 4 days later I saw the email asking us to pray for her.....She is in Heaven, and I know she is full of Joy in the Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We shall miss her, but we will see her again. our Prayers to Evelyn's Family and Friends who we know will miss her. God Bless You, Mrs. Helen Harris, & Friends in San Bernardino, Calif.

I used, "Lord Change Me" for a Bible study I was leading in Illinois in the late seventies, early eighties. It was then my blessing to late become a member of the National Prayer Committee and get to meet one of my "most admired women." What a joyful soul she had. She will be missed.

I met Evelyn back in 2001 or so. Her first words to me were, "I've been wanting to meet you!" We sat and talked about ministry and family and prayer. She insisted on giving me some autographed copies of her books for my wife. What an amazing lady!

Hi everyone,
These messages are so sweet. Thank you for writing them. Evelyn was my Grandmother, and I know the family really appreciates your sympathy.
I remember when I was little, Grammy used to take her pointer finger, hold it up, and sing "this little light of mine" with me, my sister, and/or my cousins. ("hide it under a rock? Oh NO! I'm going to let it shine....") It was a simple, silly song we sang with her, but from the time we could talk, we understood what Grandma was trying to tell us. Eventually we grew out of the song, but the message she taught never, EVER changed. All of my life, Evelyn's light for Jesus shined brighter than anyone I've ever met. Today we laid her body to rest, and it was possibly the hardest thing I've ever had to do. She made this world a better place, and now there's this big hole in all our hearts. So this candle is for Grammy, in loving memory until we meet again. We'll miss you.

I remember one Saturday when Evelyn needed to work on her speaking/teaching schedule. I went over to the Brigadoon home and we began to work on talking and praying over things...only after Chris went to get us donuts. :) I also remember her tell the story of when her grandson asked her, by pulling his pocket forward on his overalls, 'is Jesus in here?' I remember praying with her and others for many to know the love and salvation of Jesus Christ. Evelyn taught me, challenged me, and pointed me to Jesus; I do give God thanks for her! My deep sympathies to you, her dearest family members. Trusting God will give you much comfort and peace. God's Blessings, Gretchen

Evelyn was such a personal encouragement to me. Even in her last days, she managed to share some things with me that will keep my heart hopeful and my prayers engaged with the vision for revival. She was faithful, strong, and never wavering in her love for Jesus and in her belief that we are all meant to reflect His glory. She just did it a whole lot better than most of us! I am blessed to call Evelyn my friend.
