Kenneth M. "Ken" Abrahamson

Abrahamson, Kenneth M. "Ken" Born May 31, 1919, passed away April 6, 2011. Preceded in death by wife of 59-1/2 years, Hermoine; brother, Phillip; and daughter- in-law, Diane. He is survived by sons, Joel (Karen) and Douglas; grandsons, Chad and Bryan; brother, Bernard (Arlyss); plus many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathy Matthews. He began his military career by enlisting in the Army Air Corp Aviation Cadet Training Program and completed instruction in 1943. He served as a fighter trainer pilot during WWII, then he transferred to the MN ANG and flew many different aircraft and missions. He was promoted to the Commander of the 133rd Tactical Air Lift Group in 1971. In September 1973, Col. Abrahamson transferred to Headquarters, MN Air National Guard where he served as Senior Staff Advisor on plans and operations. On April 8, 1988 he was promoted to Brevit Brigadier General. Following retirement, he remained an active volunteer with the MN Air National Guard Museum. Funeral service Monday 4/11/11, 11:00 AM at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 West Broadway, Robbinsdale.
