To the Hugill Family, I wish to send my sympathy in the loss of your husband-father-grandfather-teacher and friend to many. I had Mr. Hugill as my algebra teacher at McGregor High School. I excelled in school, but I had lost my mother when I entered the 7th grade, and was self-conscious. I always remembered when Mr. Hugill wrote on my report card that "he wished he had more students like me." That statement boisted my self-image and meant a lot to me. I still have that report card some 50 years later. I was able to thank him for that statement at one of the McGregor reunions about 10 years ago. He was a great teacher and will be missed and remembered by many.

Hugill Family,
I was saddened to hear of Mr. Hugill's passing. I had him for math in junior high at McGregor High School and he was my favorite teacher. He was able to teach math in such a way that it was easy to understand. With thoughts of deepest sympathy.

To the Hugill Family,
Maury was my 7th grade math teacher at Mcgregor. He was always my mother's (Audrey) favorite of all that passed through our little school. Maury was an excellent teacher and a great communicator. But, most of all, he was the personification of that greatest of Minnesota compliments--a "nice guy." My deepest sympathies.

Dear Hugill Family,
How many hours I spent running around your home as a child, and Mr. Hugill was always a calm and gentle presence there. With his ready smile and his patience, he made a wonderful teacher and a great dad. I am sorry to have learned of the services too late but I will keep your family in my prayers.

To the Hugill Family:
It is with deep sorrow that I write this note. Mr. H. was my favorite teacher at SAVHS, taught me more math than I ever thought I could learn and was the reason I attended Macalester College. It meant a lot to me that he continued to attend our Tri-Class reunions and he will be deeply missed at the next one.
Sincerely,
Dick Paronto, Odenton, Maryland

Elaine, my deepest and sincerest condolences on a milestone that, sooner or later, all of us must pass. It meant so much to see you and Maury at my Hall of Fame induction. He was a patient teacher who became a friend to all of his students and a welcomed attendee at our VHS reunions. If there's a heaven, he's there. If there is anything that I can do for you, please let me know.
