Kristi Schubbe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2010.
Schubbe, Kristi Gorder age 69, went peacefully to join our Gracious God in His heavenly kingdom on October 11, 2010. She was born on March 27, 1941, the oldest child of Leo and Dorothy Gorder, in Minot, North Dakota. She graduated from Minot High School and then St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she met David, her husband of 47 years. Kristi and David resided in the Minneapolis metropolitan area their entire married life. Kristi's first love was bringing happiness and joy to children. After raising her own children at home, she was a nursery school teacher, employed for many years at Minnetonka Lutheran Church Nursery School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. For more than forty years, Kristi was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins, Minnesota. There she served as a volunteer in many roles, including teaching young children, member of the Christian Education Committee, and member of the Church Council. She had a bright and generous spirit, a compassionate heart of faith and service, and a great appreciation for all things of beauty - music, art, nature, travel, cooking, flower gardening, and home. She has blessed our lives and made the world a better, more beautiful place. Kristi was preceded in death by her father, Leo. She is survived by her husband, David, of Hamel, Minnesota. She has one son, Marc (Renee) Schubbe and grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin of Chanhassen, Minnesota. She has one daughter, Jill (Philip) Schubbe Behrens and grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan of Falcon Heights, Minnesota. Kristi is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Gorder of Golden Valley, Minnesota; her sister, Jacqueline (Larry) Kitts of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and her brother, Clark (Ann) Gorder of Omaha, Nebraska; plus many nieces and nephews, and a devoted circle of friends. While living with Alzheimer's Disease, Kristi was lovingly cared for at The Wellstead of Rogers for nearly five years. We are deeply grateful. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Road, in Hopkins, Minnesota, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010. Visitation will be at Gethsemane one hour before the service and also on Sunday evening, October 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, Edina Chapel, 7110 France Avenue So., Edina, Minnesota (952-924-4100). Memorials are preferred to The Wellstead of Rogers Employee Recognition Fund (not tax-deductible) or the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
