Dear Liz, I met you and Chuck while taking Phil's photo class last summer at Bjorklunden. He was the kindest man and so helpful and patient to all of us as we worked on our assignments into the evening. He was extremely proud to show us his photos and your watercolors side by side. God bless you and your family during these difficult days.

Sorry for your loss. Mr. Heuser was my 5th grade teacher at Kimberly Lane. I enjoyed his passion to teach, I will always remember him introducing us to dissecting through a pigs heart and lungs. God Bless your family.

Liz, Laura & Sarah, my dad (Duane Lenarz) just informed me yesterday of Chuck's passing. I used to babysit Laura & Sarah and I remember how proud both of you were of your girls. Chuck's & Liz's soft tone always made it easy to feel welcome in your home and it always felt nice to be asked to sit for two wonderfully raised girls. I'm so sorry for your loss & your family will be in my thoughts & prayers. You will always be remembered.

Dear Liz,
I will always remember Chuck as the man in waders with an enormous smile and a kind word for everyone. I thought of this verse today and how well it describes how Chuck lived his life: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." All my love, Courtney

Oh how I loved my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Heuser. We all did! For his birthday that school year my crafty Mom made him a very cool 70's turquoise and white tie with wild patterns on it. She made a second one for my dad. Mr. Heuser loved it and seemed to wear it with pride, announcing, “Martha Forde's mother made me this tie" at school. My neighbor, Mark Rova, who had Mr. Heuser as a teacher a few years later, reported to me that he would still wear the tie to school every so often, and that he announced at least once, “Martha Forde's mother made me this tie.” Years later the Heuser house burned to the ground, and I believe they lost everything they owned. When my friend Cindy (a friend from 5th grade and to this day) saw him at school after the fire, she expressed her condolences and in the course of that conversation he said, "Cindy, I lost Martha's tie in that fire." What a big heart he had. Epilogue: After the fire, I dug in my dad's closet, found the other tie, and was happy to send it to Mr. Heuser.
Thoughts and prayers are with you, Liz, Laura (I remember when the "IT'S A GIRL" banner was displayed at Beacon Heights at your birth), Sarah and family.

Mr. Heuser was my favorite teacher. He was my 5th grade teacher at Beacon Heights. He made learning fun and made every single student feel special in his class. I was a very shy student and did not do well in school, but he made me feel comfortable in the classroom when it came to my studies. I will always be thankful that I had Mr. Heuser as my teacher. Thoughts and prayers to his family - Take care & God Bless

I didn't have Mr. Heuser as a teacher, but one of my brothers did. I do remember him well, and his quiet voice as he spoke to us. He talked to you even if he didn't have you in his class. Everyone knew everyone in Beacon Heights. It was one of a kind school.

I'm so shocked and saddened to learn of Chuck's passing. I only got the chance to know him last year as he was a stellar volunteer at his granddaughter's school where I work. A beautiful, caring man who had so much joy for life. I'm keeping all his family in my thoughts and prayers. My deepest sympathy in this loss.

Laura...
So very sorry to read this. I rarely check Facebook, but I did this morning, and there it was. Missing you too, as are all the other morning swimmers. Didn't your mom and dad come swimming here, just before you moved back? So young and gone much too soon. Thinking of you.

Dear Laura, Sarah and Liz -- Again, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. After just getting reacquainted a couple weeks ago (at the Holt-Kimball reunion), I am shocked by this news, especially when my thought over lunch had been, "50th class reunion!? Liz and Chuck both seem much too young for that!" May you feel God's touch of peace and comfort at this time. Praying for you.
