Gregory Peter Huwe

Huwe, Gregory Peter Died peacefully on February 14, 2013 in loving hospice care at Norris Square Presbyterian Home in Cottage Grove, MN. He was born to Donna Huwe Hanson and Donavon Huwe in Parkers Prairie, MN on September 6, 1948. Greg attended Hiawatha High School in Hiawatha, KS before earning his B.A. from the University of Kansas and going on to graduate from Harvard Law School in 1975. He served for 36 years, as advocate and mentor, in the Attorney General's Office of Minnesota. Thinker, creator, quiet sailor, Greg was unassuming in his accomplishments, but his gentle kindness and bright sense of humor shone through to everyone around him. During his long illness, Greg held on to the good and let go of the rest, teaching those around him acceptance and peace. In addition to his mother, Greg is survived by his wife, Barbara Ballard Huwe; his daughter, Amanda Huwe Hotaling, and husband, Steve Hotaling; daughter, Stefanie Solum, and husband Peter Starenko; his dear grandchildren, Charlie, Will, and Louisa Starenko, and Maya Hotaling; and his sister, Chris Huwe Mellem and husband Robert Mellem. Greg also has many friends, relatives and extended family who love him deeply. Greg was preceded in death by his father and sister, Sheila Huwe Everts. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 3 PM at Living Table UCC Church, 4001 38th Ave. S, Minneapolis.
