Arnold Cannon Obituary

STATESBORO - Mr. Arnold Cannon, age 82, died Friday at Heritage Inn Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was a native and longtime resident of Bulloch County. Mr. Cannon was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the ACACIA Lodge 452 in Savannah since 1962. Mr. Cannon established Cannon's Barber College in Savannah and was the owner of Cannon's Barber Shop for 50 years and retired in 2006. He was a member of Lanes Primitive Baptist Church and was a devoted volunteer for the homebound people of Bulloch County. Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Stanford Cannon and his step-son, Bodie Sanders.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sanders Cannon of Statesboro; his daughter, Mary Ellen (Harry) Gauger of Aiken, S.C.; five step children, Debbie (Wade) McElveen, Donna (Lane) Middleton, Michael Sanders, Lisa (Kenny) Waters, and Al (Kathy) Sanders; one step daughter-in-law, Lorna Sanders; three grandchildren, Jack Sinopoli, Cheri Inez Dowdy, and Gina Marie Trujillo; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Sinopoli, Cannon Martinez, and Jack Michael Trujillo; thirteen step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann (Bennie) Porier, Reba Hales, Bobbie Johnson, and Mitchell (Teresa) Stanford.
Visitation will be held Monday from 10:30 until 11:30 A.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30 A.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Lee Chambers officiating.
Burial will follow in Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.

The world has lost such a great man. Mr. Cannon was such a wonderful friend to me and my family. I always admired him for his keen sense of business and the sincere compassion that he had for people. He was someone that people respected and looked up to. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
